Feedback and Suggestions - Tell Us What You Think About Kennedy Library

Q

What is the normal temperature setting for the library and who gets to control it? Can we request a temperature setting?

I enjoy studying at the library. I like the environment, especially around 9pm. My only complaint, floors get a bit stuffy and hot. With this unusual hot weather that we are having, the library get hot & instead of studying I get sleepy and just want to take a nap.

Thank you for your comment and believe me, we wished we could cool it off in here as well! What many people don’t realize is that the Kennedy Library doesn't have air conditioning.

The back story is that when the library was originally built, they ran out of money to install air conditioning. Instead, we got windows that open. Fresh air!  It’s wonderful, most of the time.  And we do our best to open and close windows and doors to keep it as temperate as possible.  Since we’re on the Central Coast, it’s usually pretty nice.

But SOME days are chilly, and some are hot.  When it’s cold in here, the best suggestion we have is: grab a sweater, pick up a hot cup of something at Julian’s, or get up and walk around to get your blood flowing again.
